King County, CA (KFSN) — A tragic accident claimed the lives of a man and a woman just outside of Lemoore on Saturday night, according to ABC30 with additional reporting from KSEE.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the crash site at Grangeville Boulevard near 25th Avenue shortly before 10:30 PM, finding a white 2014 Ford Fusion engulfed in flames.
The driver, a woman, was traveling west on Grangeville Boulevard when she failed to negotiate a turn, colliding with a guardrail. As a result of the impact, the car caught fire, leading to the fatalities of both the driver and a male passenger. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed.
At this stage, CHP is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the potential involvement of alcohol or drugs. However, details regarding any substances contributing to the accident remain undisclosed.
Liability in Solo-Vehicle Collisions
In some circumstances, investigations can reveal that some portion of the liability for a solo-vehicle collision might fall upon other drivers in the vicinity of the accident or even unsafe roadway structures. Working through the particulars of liability to help victims and their families find proper compensation is one of the many services a personal injury attorney can provide.
Once liability has been established, a personal injury attorney can also negotiate on behalf of the victim with insurance companies, who will always seek to minimize the payout for any claim they cannot deny.
Passenger Liability
The liability insurance that drivers carry is not just meant to cover accidental harm caused to those outside of the vehicle. A driver is responsible for the safety of those in their vehicle as well. While making a wrongful death or personal injury claim against someone who knew the victim personally may prove emotionally challenging, the financial burdens following a vehicular accident can be hefty.
A good personal injury attorney can help grieving families seek proper compensation for their loss by navigating these tricky issues, as well as negotiating on the victim’s behalf with insurance companies, who routinely work to minimize the payout of any claim they cannot deny.
