Rancho Cordova, CA – On the evening of Wednesday, April 16, 2026, a collision between a vehicle and a light rail train resulted in one fatality and left two others hospitalized, according to KCRA.
The Rancho Cordova Police Department reports that the accident took place at Folsom Boulevard and Mills Park Drive.
Authorities said the vehicle drove around the crossing arms and into the path of the oncoming light rail train. All three occupants of the vehicle were transported to local hospitals, where one was subsequently pronounced dead. The two remaining occupants sustained injuries. No passengers or crew members aboard the train were reported injured.
The circumstances that led the driver to proceed around the crossing arms had not been determined at the time of reporting. The Rancho Cordova Police Department is investigating the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.
