Two high schoolers at the Salinas Union High School District were injured in a pedestrian accident in Salinas on Thursday morning. The accident, according to a news report from Kion 46, confirmed that the accident happened on Pine Street around 8:20 a.m. on January 25, 2024.
Salinas Police were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they discovered that two teens were injured as they were crossing in a crosswalk at the intersection of Pine Street and South Main Street. A driver was making a left turn at the intersection when he collided with the students going around 10 miles per hour. The driver did not notice the students until it was too late. He stopped and remained on scene to cooperate with police.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help the pedestrians. Both of the female pedestrians were injured and treated on scene by EMS crews. They were then taken to a local hospital by ambulance but are expected to recover.
Salinas Police continue to investigate what led up to the collision.
