On Wednesday morning, a man sustained major injuries in a pedestrian accident on a roadway in Watsonville. Kion 46 reported that the accident happened around 4:50 a.m. on Airport Boulevard near Pajaro Lane on the morning of May 8, 2024.
California Highway Patrol in Santa Cruz responded to the scene, where they found that a Tesla Model Y collided with a pedestrian on Airport Boulevard just east of Pajaro Lane. At the time, the male pedestrian was walking on or across the street when he was struck by the driver in a Tesla due to reasons that are not entirely known.
The pedestrian, identified only as a 63-year-old man from Watsonville, was seriously injured in the accident and rushed to Natividad Medical Center. The driver of the Tesla, a 73-year-old man, was not hurt but remained on scene following the crash.
It is believed that a portion of the road was blocked for some time following the accident. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident at this time.
