Amador, CA – On the afternoon of Thursday, September 24, 2026, a single-vehicle motorcycle collision resulted in a fatality, according to ABC10, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 1:17 PM on State Route 88 near Kirkwood Lake Road, a mountainous stretch of highway in the Sierra Nevada.
Authorities said the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on State Route 88 when the rider failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and continued up an embankment before being thrown from the motorcycle.
Fire personnel performed CPR at the scene. Amador County emergency medical services and the Amador County Sheriff's Office responded, with the coroner also dispatched. Caltrans was notified.
A tow was requested for the motorcycle.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The identity of the deceased had not been released at the time of reporting.
