Castaic, CA – On the morning of Saturday, September 12, 2026, a single-vehicle rollover collision resulted in a woman losing her life on Interstate 5, according to KBAK.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 6:23 AM on southbound Interstate 5 near Lake Hughes Road, a mountainous stretch of freeway in the Castaic area of northern Los Angeles County.
Authorities said the woman was driving southbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway, climbed a dirt embankment, and rolled over. She was ejected as a result of the crash. CHP units found the overturned vehicle on the right shoulder and the woman within the number one lane. She was pronounced dead by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors. The CHP Newhall Area office is investigating the crash, and witnesses are asked to contact that office with any additional information.
