Tranquillity, CA – On the morning of Saturday, July 4, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality after a vehicle was found submerged in a canal near Tranquillity, according to ABC30.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place near Lincoln Avenue and James Road.
Authorities said officers responded just after 6:30 AM to a report of a car in a canal and arrived to find a person inside the submerged vehicle. The Fresno County Fire dive team was requested to assist with the recovery.
Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling southbound on James Road when it lost control and crashed into the canal. The time of the crash had not been determined at the time of reporting.
No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased had been released at the time of reporting. The California Highway Patrol took over the investigation. The investigation remains ongoing.
