
Santa Barbara, CA – On the late morning of Saturday, April 26, 2025, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality on State Route 154 near East Camino Cielo, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 10:44 AM near a blind curve along the highway. Responding authorities found a single vehicle off the roadway, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the collision, and no additional injuries were reported.
Caltrans crews were called to assist with traffic management, as the incident temporarily blocked the number two lane. Tow services were also dispatched to remove the vehicle and clear the roadway. By mid-afternoon, all lanes were reopened to traffic.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division responded to handle the deceased. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The California Highway Patrol urges any witnesses to contact them with information regarding the incident.
