Tulare, CA – On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, a motorcycle crash involving a power pole resulted in fatal injuries, according to KSEE, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:56 PM near the intersection of Road 68 and Avenue 260, south of Avenue 268 in the rural farmland of Tulare County.

Authorities say a man in his 30s was riding a motorcycle southbound on Road 68 when he lost control and collided with a high-voltage Edison power pole. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed the rider had succumbed to his injuries.

The impact sheared the pole at the base, leaving it partially upright with power lines hanging over the roadway. County road crews and fire department units responded to secure the area, while Southern California Edison was notified to make necessary repairs and clear the hazard.

The rider was the sole individual involved in the crash. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Tulare County Coroner’s Office. A tow service was called to remove the motorcycle, and the roadway remained closed for several hours as repairs and the investigation continued.

CHP has not determined whether speed, mechanical failure, or other factors contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
