Maison Law of Bakersfield posted details regarding this collision, as well as information on the help that families can receive following a fatal pedestrian accident.

Dangers of Bakersfield Pedestrian Accidents

Because pedestrians have no protection from harm in an accident involving a vehicle, they are likely to sustain catastrophic injuries or fatalities. When a hit-and-run driver flees the scene of a pedestrian accident, the pedestrian is less likely to receive medical attention in the recommended period of time – which can quickly risk their life.

According to statistics from California’s Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS), a total of 125 pedestrian accidents occurred in Bakersfield in all of 2022. Out of these accidents, 31 people were killed and 105 individuals sustained injuries of various degrees. These accidents continue to be a real problem in Bakersfield on our major roads.

A pedestrian accident could happen in the blink of an eye due to a driver who is acting negligently or not paying close attention to the roads. It is not always easy to prove fault in one of these accidents, especially when a hit-and-run driver is involved. This is why families are urged to gain a better understanding of their legal options after a fatal pedestrian accident.
