Lamont, CA – On the early morning of Monday, March 10, 2025, a single-vehicle crash left a 19-year-old man with fatal injuries, while an 18-year-old woman and a 3-year-old child escaped unharmed, according to KBAK.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around midnight on Panama Road west of Fairfax Road.

Investigators said the 19-year-old driver was traveling eastbound on Panama Road with two passengers when he lost control of a Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle veered off the roadway, crashed into a power pole, overturned, and came to rest on the north shoulder of Panama Road.

Emergency responders extricated the driver from the wreckage and transported him to Kern Medical with major injuries. He succumbed to his injuries on March 11, according to CHP officials. The Kern County Coroner’s Office has not yet released his identity.

Authorities confirmed that the 18-year-old woman and the 3-year-old child in the vehicle were uninjured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
