Nevada County, CA – On Sunday evening, March 9, 2025, a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a truck in which both vehicles caught fire claimed the life of at least one person, according to KCRA

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the collision occurred just before 6 PM near the intersection of Highway 49 and Reader Ranch Road.

According to reports, the motorcyclist was struck by a truck traveling in the opposite direction, in the southbound lanes of Highway 49. While initial reports indicated the motorcyclist may have been traveling the wrong way, the collision itself took place in the northbound lanes. Tragically, the impact resulted in both vehicles catching fire, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. Traffic delays are expected in the area, and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes. Further information will be released as the investigation continues.

Wrongful Death Claims

Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
