Sacramento County, CA – A bicyclist lost her life after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday night, November 9, 2024, according to FOX40.

The collision occurred around 6:51 PM on 65th Street, just north of Florin Road.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that a 41-year-old driver was traveling south on 65th Street when a 32-year-old cyclist attempted to cross the roadway in front of the vehicle. Despite the driver’s attempt to brake, the vehicle struck the cyclist.

The injured cyclist was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities do not suspect alcohol to have played a role in the incident.

Bicycle Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims

Drivers have a Duty of Care towards bicyclists, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a fatal collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.

For those who lose a loved one in a bicycle accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.

Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.

If you or someone you love was harmed in an accident like the one described here, feel free to contact Maison Law for any questions or to receive a no-cost, no-obligation case assessment.
