Yolo County, CA — A person was killed in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024, near the intersection of Highway 16 and County Road 18, south of Yolo, according to CBS13.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers were dispatched to the scene shortly after 10 AM. While the circumstances leading to the crash remain unclear, initial reports indicate that two vehicles were involved.
Emergency responders confirmed that one person died as a result. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim, pending notification of their family.
The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, with westbound lanes of Highway 16 near County Road 18 temporarily blocked to allow for investigation and clearing of the site.
The CHP continues to investigate the incident to determine the cause of the collision.
Wrongful Death Claims
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
