Sacramento, CA – In the early evening of Monday, April 21, 2025, a female bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car, according to KCRA.

The Sacramento Police Department reports that the collision took place near Arden Way and Challenge Way shortly before 6:00 PM.

Responding officers found the cyclist critically injured and transported her to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the involved vehicle, also a woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The incident prompted the closure of westbound Arden Way between Ethan Way and Challenge Way, affecting access to nearby businesses, including Arden Fair Mall. The roadway was reopened to traffic around 10:30 PM.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Duty of Care Toward Bicyclists

Drivers have a Duty of Care towards bicyclists, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim to ensure they get proper medical treatment and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.

For those injured in a bicycle accident, filing a Personal Injury claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills and other related damages.

Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
