Bakersfield, CA – On the afternoon of Sunday, June 1, 2025, a single-vehicle rollover collision left a man with major injuries, according to KBAK.

The Bakersfield Police report that the crash occurred around 3:17 PM on the westbound onramp to Westside Parkway from Truxtun Avenue. Responding officers found the vehicle overturned with the male driver still inside. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries.

Preliminary findings suggest the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control, struck a concrete guard rail, and overturned. While speed is believed to be a contributing factor, investigators are awaiting toxicology results to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

Police have stated that the onramp consists of two asphalt lanes divided by white skip striping, with no structural issues noted. The westbound onramp is expected to remain closed for several hours while the investigation continues.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is urged to contact the Bakersfield Police Department.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
