Sacramento, CA – In the early hours of Sunday, June 1, 2025, a 22-year-old man was found dead in the roadway following an apparent hit-and-run in downtown Sacramento, according to The Sacramento Bee.

The Sacramento Police Department reports that officers responded to the 500 block of J Street at approximately 2:30 AM after receiving calls about a man lying in the road.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. Investigators believe he was struck by a vehicle that fled prior to law enforcement’s arrival.

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Investigators are leading the case. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity once next of kin have been notified.

The Sacramento Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact their office.

Hit-and-Runs and Wrongful Death Claims

The compensation provided by a Wrongful Death claim can financially support families grieving the loss of a loved one due to another person’s negligence. These funds can go toward hospital bills, burial expenses, and help support any dependents of the deceased.

In cases where the at-fault party escapes justice, families may still be able to pursue compensation through their own uninsured driver coverage. A personal injury attorney can offer guidance on what options they may have available and negotiate with insurance companies to ensure that victims receive the best settlement possible.

If you or someone you love was harmed in an accident like the one described here, feel free to contact Maison Law for any questions or to receive a no-cost, no-obligation case assessment.
