Sacramento County, CA – In the early hours of Friday, February 7, 2025, a woman suffered major injuries after being struck by a vehicle following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80, according to FOX40.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 2:40 AM on eastbound Interstate 80, east of Elkhorn Boulevard.

Authorities said the woman was driving a Honda Pilot when she was involved in a single-vehicle crash that disabled her car. The vehicle came to a stop, blocking two center lanes. A man driving a Chevrolet Express in the same direction then struck the woman.

She was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The CHP stated that neither driver was suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The investigation remains ongoing.

Duty of Care Toward Pedestrians

Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for pedestrians near the roadway and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim to ensure they get proper medical treatment and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.

For those injured in a pedestrian accident, filing a Personal Injury claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills and other related damages.

If you or someone you love was harmed in an accident like the one described here, feel free to contact Maison Law for any questions or to receive a no-cost, no-obligation case assessment.
