Fresno, CA – A car overturned on Highway 99 early Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025, after being rear-ended by a pickup truck traveling at an unsafe speed, according to KSEE.
The accident took place just after 6 AM on the southbound side of Highway 99, north of Belmont Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that traffic had slowed due to a vehicle stopped in the center median with a flat tire. As vehicles backed up, a pickup truck, unable to slow down in time, crashed into the back of another car. The impact caused the car to overturn, with both vehicles coming to rest on the right shoulder.
Three drivers who were involved in the crash reported injuries. Officials stated that alcohol was not a factor, emphasizing that the crash resulted from excessive speed in heavy traffic.
CHP continues to investigate the crash and urges drivers to maintain safe speeds, especially in congested areas.
