Holt, CA – A serious head-on crash on Highway 4 in San Joaquin County left at least one person with major injuries on Tuesday afternoon, October 15, 2024, according to KCRA.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident occurred around 4:15 PM near Bacon Island Road and involved three vehicles.

A pickup truck traveling westbound lost control and sideswiped a Honda before colliding head-on with a Toyota. The driver of the Honda, who sustained major injuries, was rushed to the hospital for emergency care. The extent of their injuries and current condition have not been released.

The driver and any passengers in the Toyota were not immediately reported to have suffered significant injuries, but further updates are expected as authorities continue their investigation.

CHP officers are still investigating what caused the driver of the pickup to lose control.

Personal Injury Claims

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and in California, several parties can share partial liability. A personal injury attorney plays a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.

If it is found that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a personal injury claim with the responsible party’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover damages such as hospital bills and lost income during recovery.

Comparative Negligence

California Law upholds the concept of Comparative Negligence, which allows more than one party to share blame in a personal injury accident. Injured victims may have their compensation reduced if they are found partially to blame.
