Galt, CA — One person was transported to the hospital after their vehicle crashed off Highway 99 and landed on a nearby golf course Sunday evening, November 24, 2024, according to KRCA.
The accident occurred in the southbound lanes of Highway 99, just south of Galt, around 3 PM.
The Cosumnes Fire Department reports that the vehicle veered off the highway and landed on the Dry Creek Ranch Golf Course. First responders had to rescue the individual from the vehicle before transporting them to the hospital with moderate injuries. The person’s condition remains unknown at this time.
Traffic was significantly impacted, with the second lane of the highway closed. The fire department advises drivers to take alternate routes as crews work to clear the scene, which is expected to take about an hour.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
Single-Vehicle Collisions and Comparative Negligence
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility.
California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages. A personal injury attorney can play a critical role in sorting through these details to help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.
