Hollister, CA – On the night of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, a man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Fallon Road and Scagliotti Road, just east of Hollister Airport, according to KSBW, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the collision occurred at approximately 10:17 PM when the man, driving a gray Mazda westbound on Fallon Road, left the roadway for unknown reasons. The vehicle overturned in a plowed dirt field, and the driver, who was the sole occupant, was ejected during the crash.

Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident but pronounced the man dead at the scene. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was found off-road with a flat tire. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors.

The utility company PG&E was notified due to a nearby power pole but confirmed that the pole remained intact. A tow truck was dispatched to recover the vehicle.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
