Sequoia National Forest, CA – On the evening of Sunday, June 8, 2025, a single-vehicle motorcycle crash resulted in fatal injuries to a 42-year-old man from Visalia, according to KSEE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 5:10 PM on Highway 180, approximately two and a half miles east of Hume Road, within the Sequoia National Forest.
According to investigators, the man was traveling westbound on a black Suzuki motorcycle when he approached a curve in the mountain roadway. For reasons still under investigation, he failed to navigate the bend and continued straight off the road, crashing into the mountainside.
Responding officers found the rider with critical injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed the man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and noted that there were no immediate signs of drug or alcohol involvement.
The man’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. The investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
