Concord, CA — A bicyclist in Concord was struck and killed on the evening of Sunday, November 24, 2024, according to KRON.

The accident occurred just before 9 PM on Highway 242 near Olivera Road.

According to a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol, it appears that a vehicle collided with the bicyclist. No further details have been released regarding the description of the vehicle that struck the bicycle or the driver involved.

The identity of the bicyclist killed in the collision will be released after notification of next of kin.

Authorities have not indicated whether factors such as speed, alcohol, or mechanical failure may have contributed to the collision. Officers are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Bicycle Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims

Drivers have a Duty of Care towards bicyclists, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a fatal collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.

For those who lose a loved one in a bicycle accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.

Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.

If you or someone you love was harmed in an accident like the one described here, feel free to contact Maison Law for any questions or to receive a no-cost, no-obligation case assessment.
