San Jose, CA – According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), on the night of May 1, 2024, in the Santa Teresa area of San Jose, a gray Toyota Sequoia crashed into the center divide of Highway 85 with fatal results.
The initial report of the collision occurred at 7:17 PM, and CHP officers swiftly arrived at the scene on the northbound side of Highway 85 just north of Highway 101, near the Blue Sky Innovation Center.
Traffic in the area was diverted as officers investigated the scene and discovered the driver of the Sequoia to be deceased. No further details regarding the identity of the driver or what may have led to the crash have been released.
Liability in Solo-Vehicle Collisions
In some circumstances, investigations can reveal that some portion of the liability for a solo-vehicle collision might fall upon other drivers in the vicinity of the accident or even unsafe roadway structures. Working through the particulars of liability to help victims and their families find proper compensation is one of the many services a personal injury attorney can provide.
Once liability has been established, a personal injury attorney can also negotiate on behalf of the victim with insurance companies, who will always seek to minimize the payout for any claim they cannot deny.
