Sacramento, CA – On the evening of Sunday, June 15, 2025, a two-vehicle crash in the Rosemont area left one woman dead and two others injured, according to ABC10.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 6:00 PM at the intersection of South Watt Avenue and Kiefer Boulevard.
Authorities report that a Lexus and an Infiniti collided in the intersection after one of the vehicles allegedly ran a red light, though it remains unclear which driver was at fault.
The woman driving the Infiniti sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital, where she later died. A man and a juvenile passenger in her vehicle suffered moderate and minor injuries, respectively. The driver of the Lexus was not injured.
Investigators have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
Failure to Yield
In California, as in other states, “failure to yield” means that you didn’t give the right of way to the right person at the right time. As such, failure to yield or stop is closely related to the “right of way.” When a motorist fails to yield, stop or otherwise avoid an accident and causes a crash, he or she can be held liable for injuries and damages suffered by a victim.
Wrongful Death Claims
Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
