Modesto, CA – In the early hours of Sunday, March 30, 2025, a rollover crash on Highway 99 resulted in the death of a 39-year-old man, according to The Modesto Bee.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 12:45 AM on southbound Highway 99, just south of Pelandale Avenue.
Officers arrived to find a white Toyota sedan overturned on its roof on the right shoulder. The driver, who was the only occupant, was found unresponsive and remained belted into his seat. Emergency responders, including the Modesto Fire Department and ambulance personnel, extracted the man and attempted life-saving measures before transporting him to Doctors Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the preliminary investigation, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he collided with the rear of another vehicle between the second and third lanes. Following the impact, the Toyota veered across the highway and overturned on the shoulder.
Authorities have not determined if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
