Sacramento County, CA – On the evening of Sunday, February 23, 2025, two teenagers were injured after their vehicle veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree, according to ABC10.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash occurred just after 7:00 PM near the intersection of Highway 104 and Alta Mesa Road.

Emergency responders arrived to find the driver unconscious with major injuries, while the passenger had suffered a significant laceration. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities believe both victims are 17-year-old boys, though their identities have not been released. Investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash, and it remains unclear whether alcohol or speed played a role in the incident.

The collision remains under investigation as officials work to gather more details. Officers urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information to contact the CHP.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
