Sacramento, CA – On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 28, 2025, a single-vehicle crash left a driver critically injured after the car struck a utility pole, according to KCRA.

The Sacramento Police Department reports that the crash occurred around 4:30 PM near the intersection of Fruitridge Road and 57th Street.

Authorities said surveillance and aerial footage showed the vehicle smashing through a utility pole before continuing to roll and coming to a stop across the street. The collision also caused significant damage to the vehicle and knocked over a street sign, creating additional hazards at the scene.

The driver was transported by emergency medical services to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. Police have not released additional details regarding the driver’s identity or what may have caused the crash.

Fruitridge Road was closed for several hours while officers and tow crews worked to clear the wreckage and ensure the roadway was safe for traffic.

The Sacramento Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine contributing factors.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
