Bakersfield, CA – On the morning of Sunday, October 12, 2025, a man lost his life in a possible hit-and-run collision, according to KBAK.
The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 8:08 AM on the 7900 block of Camino Media, a residential area east of Gosford Road.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying unresponsive in the roadway. Emergency medical personnel responded shortly after and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators said early evidence points to a possible collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle. However, no involved vehicle or driver was found in the area when authorities arrived.
Officers canvassed nearby homes and businesses for potential witnesses or surveillance footage, but none have yet come forward with information.
Police said the incident remains under active investigation as they continue to gather evidence and search for the driver believed to have been involved.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, which includes being vigilant for those travelling by foot and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
