Chinese Camp, CA – In the late morning of Tuesday, April 29, 2025, a solo motorcycle crash resulted in fatal injuries to a 68-year-old man from Portland, Oregon, according to KCRA.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 10:28 AM near Highway 120 and Sims Road.

The motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Highway 120 when he failed to navigate a curve in the roadway and instead continued straight onto the shoulder. His motorcycle overturned, ejecting him from the vehicle and causing fatal injuries. Authorities confirmed that the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and DUI is not considered a factor. Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP has not yet released his name, pending notification of next of kin.

The collision remains under investigation.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
