Buttonwillow, CA – On the night of Tuesday, August 12, 2025, a collision involving at least two big rigs caused possible injuries and traffic delays, according to KBAK.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 10:00 PM on southbound Interstate 5 at 7th Standard Road.

CHP said at least one ambulance responded to the scene to provide medical assistance to those involved. Officials have not released details about the number of people injured or the extent of their injuries.

At least one lane of southbound I-5 remained closed for an extended period while crews cleared the roadway and investigators documented the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash and have not released further information regarding contributing factors. Traffic in the area experienced delays as a result of the partial closure.

Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
