Visalia, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, October 20, 2025, a motorcycle collision claimed the life of a Harley-Davidson rider along Highway 198, according to KSEE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash took place just before 3:00 PM on westbound Highway 198 near the Akers Street on-ramp.
Investigators said the man was riding a Harley-Davidson Sportster westbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle struck a raised curb. The impact caused the rider to be thrown from the bike and ejected onto the westbound on-ramp.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly and transported the rider to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
Authorities have not released the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash and asks anyone with information about the incident to contact the Visalia Area Office.
Single-Vehicle Fatalities
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
