Fresno County, CA – A 22-year-old man died in the early hours of Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in a crash near Meadow Lakes, according to KSEE, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 AM on Auberry Road near Beal Fire Road.
CHP investigators said a Toyota T100 pickup truck, driven by a 21-year-old man from Clovis, failed to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway. The vehicle traveled down a 200-foot embankment before colliding with a tree.
The right rear passenger, a 22-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a right front passenger, both wearing seat belts, sustained moderate to major injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
The driver was taken by ground ambulance to Clovis Community Medical Center. The front passenger was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center by Skylife with major injuries. Fire officials said the victims had to be extricated from the vehicle.
One passenger indicated they were in the area to observe meteor showers.
The roadway was temporarily closed at a hairpin curve during the emergency response and investigation.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved, and the crash remains under investigation.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
Passenger Liability
Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Wrongful Death claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming. As a neutral third party, an experienced personal injury attorney can help navigate these emotional complexities.
