Elk Grove, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, September 27, 2025, a two-vehicle collision killed a 91-year-old woman, according to ABC10.
The Elk Grove Police Department reports that the accident took place around 2:50 PM at the intersection of Bond Road and Salmon Creek Drive.
Police said the woman was driving a Lincoln Town Car northbound on Salmon Creek Drive when she appeared to have possibly attempted an illegal U-turn in front of the fire station on Bond Road. As she pulled into the roadway, a Toyota RAV4 traveling east on Bond Road struck the driver’s side of her vehicle.
Emergency responders transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she died from her injuries. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release her identity after notifying family members.
The driver of the Toyota sustained injuries that required hospital treatment, though police described those injuries as not life-threatening.
Elk Grove police continue to investigate the crash and ask anyone with information to contact the department’s traffic bureau.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
