Fatal Crash on Lake Isabella Blvd near Kilbreth Dr in Bodfish

Bodfish, CA – A 63-year-old man was killed Thursday evening, January 12, 2026, after crashing his pickup truck into a building in Bodfish, according to KGET, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred at approximately 5:13 p.m. on February 12, 2026, in the 4100 block of Lake Isabella Boulevard, south of Kilbreth Drive. CHP logs describe the incident as a single-vehicle accident involving a gray pickup truck versus a building.

Investigators said the man was driving a 2000 Chevy Silverado at a high rate of speed when the vehicle veered east, left the roadway, struck a tree, and then slammed into an abandoned building. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his name pending notification of next of kin.

Lake Isabella Boulevard was temporarily closed between Kilbreth Drive and Bodfish Street while emergency personnel and county road crews responded. The roadway reopened later that evening.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact CHP Bakersfield.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a Personal Injury Claim or Wrongful Death Claim.
