North Highlands, CA – According to KCRA, a female pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision in the North Highlands area of Sacramento County on the night of Thursday, January 26, 2024.
The incident occurred around 9:43 PM at the intersection of Walerga Road and Elkhorn Boulevard.
The victim, identified as a woman in her 40s, was crossing in front of a westbound-traveling vehicle on Elkhorn Boulevard and was struck, despite being in the crosswalk and having the right of way with a green light.
The driver responsible for the incident fled the scene, leaving the victim without assistance. Unfortunately, her injuries proved fatal.
Authorities continue to seek information regarding the hit-and-run driver in this ongoing investigation.
While the driver in a hit-and-run fatality remains at large, families of the deceased may feel they have no recourse to seek compensation for the loss of their loved one.
That compensation can address the financial burdens created by the victim’s death like burial costs and the loss of support toward dependents of the deceased.
However, there may be other options that a skilled personal injury attorney can help grieving families find, such as working with uninsured motorist coverage, which is why seeking their assistance after a fatal collision can be so valuable.
