Placer County, CA – One person was hospitalized with major injuries Saturday morning, January 10, 2026, after a vehicle collided with a tree and subsequently caught fire, according to FOX40.
The accident occurred near Wise Road and Lincoln Sheridan Boulevard, prompting a rapid emergency response.
CAL FIRE, the Placer County Fire Department, and Lincoln Engine 33 were dispatched to the scene following reports of a PG&E power pole fire in the area. The Grass Valley Emergency Command Center also relayed information from a crash detection alert from an Apple Watch, which assisted in locating the incident.
Upon arrival, responders found the vehicle with significant damage, fully involved in fire. The occupant was discovered approximately 20 feet from the car, indicating a possible ejection during the crash. Fire crews extinguished the flames and secured the area to prevent further hazards.
The injured person was transported by emergency personnel to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. California Highway Patrol officers and fire officials are conducting a thorough investigation, documenting the scene, and following established procedures to determine the cause and contributing factors of the crash.
Traffic in the vicinity was temporarily restricted while the response and investigation were underway.
