Bakersfield, CA – On the morning of Friday, July 4, 2025, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run collision, according to KGET.

The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 9:39 AM near the 8100 block of South Union Avenue, close to Hosking Avenue.

Officers responded to reports of a person lying on the shoulder of the northbound lanes. Upon arrival, they discovered a man showing clear signs of having been struck by a vehicle. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

The vehicle involved in the incident had fled before officers arrived. The identity of the victim has not yet been released and will be provided by the Kern County Coroner’s Office once the next of kin have been notified.

Authorities have not released a description of the vehicle or the suspect involved in the crash. Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances of the collision and are seeking any witnesses or relevant surveillance footage from the area.
