Bakersfield, CA – On the evening of Wednesday, June 25, 2025, a single-vehicle crash resulted in the death of 35-year-old Bakersfield resident, according to KBAK, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 6:35 PM on Famoso Road, east of Sherwood Avenue.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the man was driving a black 2015 Ford Fusion westbound on Famoso Road at an undetermined speed when he failed to navigate a left-hand curve.
The vehicle veered off the roadway in a northwesterly direction, overturned on the dirt shoulder, and landed on its side. The driver was ejected during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
The westbound lane of Famoso Road was closed for approximately two hours while law enforcement conducted an investigation and emergency crews cleared the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the incident.
Authorities have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
