Bakersfield, CA – In the morning hours of Monday, June 2, 2025, a head-on collision between a sedan and a big rig resulted in major injuries and a three-hour road closure on Tejon Highway north of Arvin, according to KBAK.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 8:19 AM on Tejon Highway, just north of Mountain View Road. A southbound Honda Accord crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a big rig pulling two trailers.

Emergency responders found the Honda driver pinned inside the vehicle and extricated them before transporting the individual to Kern Medical with major injuries. The driver of the big rig was not injured in the crash.

Both directions of Tejon Highway were temporarily shut down to allow for vehicle removal and cleanup of diesel fuel that had leaked onto the roadway.

CHP investigators are reviewing whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.

Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
