Sacramento, CA – On the night of Saturday, February 22, 2025, a pedestrian suffered major injuries in a hit-and-run collision, according to FOX40.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash occurred around 10:00 PM on Garfield Avenue, west of Madison, when a man in his 30s walking southbound was struck by a vehicle. Authorities say the suspect vehicle may be a light-colored sedan.

Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to a hospital for treatment. The driver fled the scene before officers arrived.

The CHP has not released further details about the suspect vehicle or the driver’s identity. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact law enforcement.

California Hit-and-Run Laws

California Law requires drivers involved in a collision to stop their vehicle, notify law enforcement, and exchange insurance information with others involved. Failure to do so, considered to be a “hit-and-run,” is a misdemeanor in cases of property damage and a felony when someone has been injured.
