A fatal car accident involving multiple vehicles took the life of one person on Tuesday in Sanger. Fresno California Highway Patrol officials arrived at the scene around 3:30 p.m. to find that a head-on collision involving four vehicles occurred on Goodfellow Avenue on August 22, 2023.
Your Central Valley reported that the accident happened on Goodfellow Avenue just east of Rio Vista Avenue. A total of four vehicles were traveling on the roadway in the area including a Chevrolet Silverado, a BMW 328i, a Toyota Camry, and a Hyundai Accent. The driver of the Toyota Camry started to slow due to traffic, which is when the driver of the Silverado swerved into the other lane in an attempt to avoid a collision.
The Silverado ended up colliding with the back of the Camry, then striking the BMW in the opposite lane head-on. The driver of the Hyundai tried to avoid the vehicles but still collided with the Silverado.
Paramedics and local fire crews were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the BMW, identified as a 58-year-old man, was rushed to a local hospital but was tragically pronounced deceased while there. The drivers of the Silverado and the Hyundai, identified as a 26-year-old female and a 49-year-old female, were both hospitalized with injuries. The Camry driver, identified as a 24-year-old female, was not hospitalized but sustained minor injuries.
Police blocked off a portion of the road following the accident.
At this time, California Highway Patrol officials continue their investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accident.
